Capllarity

Capillarity is defined as a phenomenon of rise or fall of liquid surface in a small tube relative to the adjacent general level of liquid when the tube is held vertically in the liquid. If the tube is having insufficient lenght, the value of rise or fall will be affected and the liquid will over flow from the tube.

Brick Composition of Good Brick Earth Following are the constituents of brick earth: 1. Alumina It is the chief constituent of every kind of clay. A good brick earth should contain about 20 to 30 per cent of alumina. This constituent imparts plasticity to earth so that it can be moulded. 2. Silica A good brick earth should contain about 50 to 60 per cent of silica. Presence of this constituent prevents cracking, shrinking and warping of raw bricks. MAIN BARS AND DISTRIBUTION BARS In any reinforcement detailing there are two sizes of bars used in the slab. That is main reinforcement bars and distribution bars. In this article, we will discuss the difference between main bars and distribution bars. To understand properly we need to know the bending moment on a slab. Let’s take an example. When a lo ad is applied to a slab the bottom of the slab will experience positive moment (Sagging) and the supports will experience negative moments (Hogging). The bottom part, as well as the top part of the slab, will experience high tension at the same time.     The deflection will be very high in shorter span and low in longer span. Fluid Properties Basic Concept The branch of the mechanics that deals with bodies at rest is called  statics  while the branch that deals with bodies in motion is called  dynamics . Fluid statics → Study the behaviour of fluid at rest or at motion study fluid at Rest. Fluid kinematics → Study of Fluid at motion without considering pressure.
